{backwards} who cares.....

oh my stop the presses!! angelina put her dress on backwards. i can't believe for the past few days this had made the front page of the entertainment news. who cares. if she wants to wear her dress backwards do we really need it in the news. i can't imagine what it must be like to have your every move, mistake, look, statement documented by the press. it must be horrible. i know i know...i'll never be fab enough to have my every move in print but with all that's happening in the world and with our economy and friends and family losing jobs and not being able to pay bills. with all this turmoil and sadness and stress we all have - don't insult our intelligence with this crap. it's ridiculous. i think for every time something stupid like this gets printed - the printee needs to donate money to the homeless as a penalty. give us some substance peeps. and because i ranted about this i too need to donate - i have a pile of warm winter clothing that is headed to the charity bin. shame on me for even taking the time to write this but i can't help it. it bugs me.

{muse me}

you know the nice thing about having a muse is well....having a muse. miss j is always up for a fun shoot - keeps me on my toes helps me to think outside the box. there is so much snow and ice around these here parts but as they say, if you can't beat 'em join 'em. a great red coat, some wellies, a mink hat (no nasty comments) and off we went. we visited the marsh in newbury which is so gorgeous - that's where bil and i hiked with annie last saturday. (ok attempted to hike with annie) - anyway now you don't have to picture the snow because here it is. this is one of my favorite spots, it's so open and beautiful and today quite windy. we also hit downtown newburyport for a few shots in some alley ways...........anyway, we didn't have much time but i'm pleased with how they turned out. here are a few of my favs. you can check out more on my flickr so go ahead and take that river ride.

{a sad day}

first it was blueprint and now it's domino. my fav design magazine is folding up, closing shop, saying adios. their last issue will be march. i am so sad. i know it's not the end of the world. but truly, this magazine was my inspiration, my entertainment - affordable entertainment. i keep my back issues because i love to reread them over and over again. so what will replace this hip and fresh design rag? well that remains to be seen. elle decor? oh i'm so disappointed. thank goodness for the blog world that keeps me connected to all things design cool. guess that's one way to save a tree.

ms. {j.}

a quick post of some shots i took while visiting with my friend, jenni. i think jenni has the best smile and she doesn't take a bad picture. that's not fair!!! i made her put her cute winter hat on for some quick shots while the cam was available.
annie and ava played together for the first time in a long time and they had a great time. of course there were a few meltdowns and the typical three year old statement of "so and so is not my best friend anymore" - we watched an episode of the flight of the conchords - hysterical and thank you jenni for cutting my hair! - it's been too long.

{got health?}

trying so hard to be motivated to go back to the gym. this morning, bil and annie were having a discussion about going for a winter walk. i didn't want to miss out on this, i really need to get my body moving. getting annie all layered up before we ventured outdoors took a bit of time. there was the pants and shirt (more like leggings) and then the cozy socks and then the leg warmers which on annie reach all the way up to the top of her thighs! then the nice fleece pullover that zips up with a soft turtleneck around her little neck, then the snow pants, then the boots, then the coat, hat and finally the mittens.....oh and then i had to get myself layered up. in the car we go, off to old town hill. upon arrival we decide to walk the flatter part of the trail down to the little river - let's see we must have walked oh a good 5 minutes before annie started whining that she couldn't walk. oh my darling child, we should have known better. we really must invest in a nice sled to pull the little queenie along. so we made her walk and then bil carried her, we hung out at the river for just moments and then off through the nice open field where annie was excited to make snow angels. and then just a bit of walking and then she wanted me to carry her and then finally back to the car. so. lesson learned. no hiking with annie unless a. we have a means to drag her along and b. no hiking with annie.
and very sad that i didn't have my camera (still unrepaired) because the light was beautiful and the woods with the snow and ice were lovely. i will take annie back when i do get my camera because it's a great spot for photos.
the one photo i am including is of jenni - taken last summer. this is the path we walked down this morning - so all you have to do is picture lots of snow, cross country ski tracks, ice and no leaves on the trees!

archives revisited

ok as some of you know my camera is busted and being treated by the nikon doctors. it happens. a common problem unfortunately with the d70's. the good news is that in doing my research for repairs and what possibly the matter was i found out that all the folks that experienced the same problem i did have never experienced it again. phew. that makes me breathe a little better.
anyway....while i wait for the cam to come back to me, i have revisited my archives. i am working on cleaning up my desktop as well as learning photoshop. i figure i may as well make the most of my time. so cruising through photos from last year i stumbled upon these shots of annie. now those who know annie are aware of her larger than life personality. she truly is a delight. but boy oh boy she is everything a little girl should be. she adores her "things" or as she says, her "fings". her doggy purse is one of these items. her beloved doggy purse. i find it all over the house at different times - stuffed with you wouldn't believe. rocks, cards, bracelets, doll clothes, puzzle pieces, lego's - all sorts of items that mean the world to this little girl. anyway...these shots were taken outside of our former tea house last summer. and i love them. to me they sum up a moment with annie. i used the new pioneer woman actions II - "seventies" - which i am totally obsessed with.

sometimes it's worth digging back in the archives for old photos that can be looked at in a new light. i'm sure i will have more to share until mr. nikon returns.

wow i'm in......!

for months i was unable to sign in to my blog. go figure. seems like when it rains it pours. my camera broke, my website crashed, and my blog was nonexistent. slowly, ever so slowly i am recovering. after frustrating emails to the powers that be in the blog world and for whatever reason, resetting passwords and emails and praying to the gods of cyberspace i hit the enter button and voila! i am here..back on track....amazing. i only hope that when i try to return for yet another witty post, i will be able to.. here's hoping!!!
so i guess since i'm here i'll post some of my latest shots taken with a borrowed camera from a friend. so friend, if you are reading this - i thank you for the loan. i have been lost without my nikon and i appreciate you loaning me yours so i can fulfill some obligations and of course shoot my beloved annie.
annie is modeling my latest hat creation. i wanted a chunky hat for her noggin and had some great yarn stashed in my bag. so here she is..............i also included ellie as well - the adorable now 9 month old babe from my previous post back in september.

[about me]

and suddenly,
the clouds parted and she realized
what she had been following.
she saw it there in the distance
like a house with wings and
a candle burning in every window:
her heart. So, of course,
she had to enter.
once you follow your heart,
and then find it,
you must open the door...
(monique duval)

just a girl and her camera.

my love for photography started in high school, later in lif i realized it truly is what makes me happy. i am a natural light
photographer who's style has been described as honest, playful and candid. i strive to capture the very essence of my subject. i am always thrilled to find a new location or prop to create an image that is both clever and inspired. as a mother to a three year old creature named annie viola, i am intently drawn to the natural free spirit of a child. i try to bring that feeling to all my sessions to ensure your comfort in front of my lens.

i'm addicted to magazines, [especially interior design ones- but that's anothers tory!] i love to knit, i think every moment in life can be stated with a quote from steel magnolias. i love paris and will return someday with my annie. i adore carly simon and never ever tire of listening to her music. and not a single day goes by that i don't miss my mother.

it's all a journey and one i look forward to taking with you. I am inspired on a daily basis by the world around me as well as the people I surround myself with.

i really look forward to seeing you smile.
