{like a river}

I'll wait no more for you like a daughter
That part of our life together is over
But I will wait for you, forever
Like a river...

In the river I know I will find the key
And your voice will rise like spray
In the moment of knowing
The tide will wash away my doubts

'Cause you're already home
Making it nice for when I come
Like the way I find my bed turned down
Coming in from a late night out

Please keep reminding me
Of what in my soul I know is true
Come in my boat, there is a seat beside me
And two or three stars we can gaze into

I'll wait no more for you like a daughter
That part of our life together is over
But I will wait for you forever
Like a river...
{c. simon}

i will always be grateful for being your daughter. four years ago today you got your wings and flew away. i miss you mom ... forever and one day. xo

{i heart faces}

this is my entry in i heart faces contest. this is for a blurb book - which is awesome and i would love to be included. to choose my best face shot is really impossible. but suffice to say this has been an absolute favorite of mine since the day i took it. sweet clara noelle. can you stand how adorable she is?! she was a pleasure to shoot and i will always remember it as one of my cherished baby sessions.

I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb Book photo contest. I am granting I ♥ Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I ♥ Faces web sites.

{the prom}

i remember it like it was yesterday. my prom. my date - the fabulous college boy that was one of my brothers best friends. my dress - oh how i loved my dress. i would wear my dress today it was that fantastic {fire engine red, strapless, accordian pleats with tiny swiss dots in white, coupled with the most fantastic pair of black spiky sandals that i would kill to have back in my closet} if i had my scanner i would include a photo now but alas annie stepped on it and the glass shattered. don't ask.

anyway..............here is the very handsome adam. my nephew in connecticut. i lucked out by being there this past weekend - he donned his attire early in the day so he could visit my dad in the hospital and show him his tux. the uhaul truck was filled with items from my parents home that are being divided among us kids stored in my my sisters basement {poor girl} and the tractor was parked in my sisters townhouse complex for future work - made for a fun background. and now the fabulous adam.

{never a dull moment}

so last week my poor annie had a fall at school - oh that dreaded phone call - she hit her face on the edge of a table as she clunked to the ground. {the combo of running and wearing crocs that got "stuck" on the floor and forced her foreward as she tripped} = nice cut - i ran around the corner of her pre-school there she was being cuddled and sung to by one of the administrators - her little body in spasm intervals from her crying so hard was gently rocked. i guess i wasn't prepared to see what i saw. her dress saturated in blood. her eye so swollen, that deep cut and oh the tears streaming down that beautiful face. my heart started pounding so fast in my chest but i didn't react. i couldn't. there was work to be done to make my little girl feel better. so off we went to the emergency room of our local hospital. we were the only ones there thank goodness and were seen right away. i asked for a plastic surgeon. no fooling around - this is my girls precious face - i didn't want just anyone stitching her up. when i tell you this child was brave that would be an understatement, both the doctor and his assistant who was holding her head still couldn't believe that there was no screaming or cries, she didn't move or flinch, just tears flowing as he had to inject that novacain directly into the wound site. i was on the other end holding her feet - actually just massaging her feet/legs so she would know her mommy was still there. the doctor sutured her right up - i had never witnessed that before, it was amazing. and soon she was done. all the ER nurses took a shine to my little one - she came home with a stack of new stickers and a cuddly white bear and a spongebob band-aid on her wound (which she made the assistant work for because the three band-aid attempts prior to that weren't big enough or festive enough! he didn't mind - he had already been under the spell that is annie!).
she will get her stitches removed tomorrow. her eye turned black and blue and now yellow and fading purple - she was able to compare her war wounds with that of her poppy who has lots of stitches to repair his heart. and by the way he is home and doing wonderfully - thank you all for your kind thoughts and emails. it worked!

here are some pictures of annie before her accident - the day before we were playing at her new favorite playground - and of course - some photos of her boo-boo.

ahhhh, the life of a three year old. never a dull moment.

{thinking of dad}

this morning my dad is undergoing a triple bypass. so scary. he amazes me with his positive attitude, spirit and energy! he's 78. he has a great sense of humor, a very matter of fact guy. for those that know him, he has a wonderful heart, one i know his surgeon will look after today with steady hands and compassion. so if you are reading this, please keep him in your thoughts today. he has a family who loves him and can't wait for him to be home again. xo

{goodbye my friend}

so goodbye my friend,
i know i'll never see you again.
but the time together through all the years,
will take away these tears
it's okay now, goodbye my friend.
{k. bonoff}

sadly, my dear friends chris + tracey had to say goodbye to their beloved java. i was honored to be able to photograph this sweet pup in her final days. we all love our pets, but this little chocolate lab was special. she had the finest disposition of any dog i ever knew. she was a delight to all and when her world suddenly changed with the arrival of her "sister" kylie, she gladly stood in the background to adore the baby. and even when another "sister" josie arrived she knew she had two special girls to watch over. we would always joke that java was here first. many of my memories of living here in newburyport involve this family, their two daughters and their little pup java. i know there is an empty hole in their hearts today and i hope in time they will heal and know how truly lucky they all were for knowing this incredible dog and for the ability to give her the love they did. she is right there by their sides, even though they can't see her, java would never let them be alone because they are a family.
